Bangkok Veterans League — Team — • Shrewsbury Teachers •
Shrewsbury Teachers were another one of the 5 new expansion teams we welcomed in Dec/2006. In their Santa Claus hats, it was obvious that they brought a serious squad to the competition.
From the get-go, they jumped on to the matches methodically, pulling out some favourable scores, and finishing their group a strong 2nd (behind LesGaulois French). In the end, they finished 6th overall, on a narrow loss to Winking Frog in the QFs, signaling that they will be a tough competition in 2007.
[Dec/2006] — The spirit of Christmas was clearly palpable among the new joiners, Shrewsbury Teachers. Pictured are: Standing: Chris, Mark, Andy, Mark, Nick Front: Craig, Paul, John Latrine: Josh
*Ranking: 6th among 16 teams
Self Description:
Shrewsbury Teachers are a mixture of those who can't play football, and those who think they can but actually can't — and, one who could play but isn't the player he used to be.
Basically, we are a group of ageing, bitter teachers who aren't fit enough to play in the Sunday league anymore!
Over the Years:
[Feb/2007] — Shrewsbury Teachers had a good run, and plenty of good laughs (especially after beating Cosmos during the Group Stage!).
Feel free to e-mail to me if you would like to post your own team photo with a fitting commentary.
